About & History of CollegeKunja Bihari College owes its genesis and name to the candid and sincere efforts of Dr. Banshidhar Panda, the son-of-the-soil scientist of Orissa. A native of Madhuban under Barang Block, Dr.Panda had been inspired by his father to provide facilities for higher education for the populace of Baranga area in particular and the adjoining areas in general. Accordingly, the institution had been named after Kunja Bihari, the father who nurtured this noble idea, by his illustrious son Bansidhar. Of course, this is not to deny the hard work the local gentlemen have put in for the inception and growth of the institution. As it happens everywhere, Kunja Bihari College also began with the noble endeavour of a group of selfless individuals, as a realization of their long-cherished dream to have an institution of higher learning which they could call their own, under the leadership of Dr. Bansidhar Panda. Spread over an area of thrity acres, the college stands on a secluded site away from the public hubbub. About two kilometers from the Baranga Railway Station, the college is also approachable by motorable road from both Bhubaneswar and Cuttack. The isolated setting of the institution provides a great sense of privacy necessary for an educational institution, through some look at it as commuter's handicap. The college also has the added splendor of its surrounding where, on one side the mythological Prachi river surges down through one of its attractive canals and the glamorous, globally accredited fauna and flora of the Nandan Kanan on the other. Remarkably, the founders of the college had thought of all the academic streams, viz. Arts, Science and Commerce from the beginning days. There was emphasis on Science and Commerce disciplines and an uncommon subject like geography had been placed in the curriculla from the befinning. This reiterates the definite vision of the founders of the institution about its aim and objective. In fact the crest of the college bears, among other icons, a chimney billowing smoke. The positioning of this Industrial emblem at the top is an obvious reference tot he cause of industry that the college had affirmed its faith in and commitment to some thirty years age. College CrestThe Crest of the college comprises the following four distinct icons standing for four corresponding concepts: * The Wheel stands for progress and technology; * The Corn stalk stands for agriculture; * The Billowing chimney stands for industry; * The Lamp with a flame is typical of the Indian representation of knowledge. Equipoised between the wheel and a fruit-bearing corn stalk, it suggests its objectivity to its diverse sources, viz; technology and agriculture. The four icons of the Crest are integrated into its logo "Jnanameva Jayate" from the "Kathaupanishad accentuating the truth that "wisdom is irreplaceable, that one with wisdom wins" | QUICK LINKS | |||||
